Gmail – How to Find All Unread Messages
How difficult is it to see all your unread mails? Well, I though not too difficult and even after spending good 7-8 minutes trying and searching through various options in Gmail, I was not able to figure out how to do it.
Here’s how you can see all the unread emails, be it in the archive or the Inbox or anywhere else-
0) If you use the drop-down and choose “Unread” from the list, all it’s going to do is select the checkboxes next to the unread messages in the list—not that useful for cleaning out your inbox. SO that’s not the way to do it.
Find All Unread Messages in Gmail
1) All you need to do is type is: into the search box, and the search suggestions box will pop up and let you select the is:unread from the list. Don’t worry if the pop up doesn’t have is:unread, just type into the box yourself.
And now, you’ll see all the unread messages in your email account.
If you do this search repeatedly, you can use “l:unread” or even “l:^u” instead of “is:unread” (or “label:unread”).
You can also add the label: operator to the search undead mails from only the label group. For example, using label:inbox on the end of the search will allow you to filter down to just emails in your inbox.
is:unread label:inbox
Enjoy cleaning your mailbox!
